The number of dots in a Windows password is always 16. They are not equal to the number of letters in your password. Don't worry, this is a deliberate Windows security measure.
To remove the need for a password:
Click
Start-->Control Panel
then double click the
User Accounts
icon.
Choose
Remove My Password
.
To set up user accounts and passwords:

Passwords and user accounts: Avoid having passwords and separate user accounts if you can. They are an extra chore every time you switch on your computer. These are only necessary if you wish to keep your files and settings secret from other members of the family or staff members. Separate User Accounts and passwords may be necessary if you have badly behaved children who tend to mess up your settings and who insist on down loading dodgy programs.
If you travel with a Laptop, a password is essential. If the laptop was stolen or you left it on the bus, you would be wide open to Identity Fraud. However, a password would not protect your identity from a determined criminal.
